Today is EU Single Emergency Number Day. In Italy, the single emergency number is active in 11 Regions ensuring coverage of 65% of the Italian population. In 2021, almost 19 million calls were handled. The strengths of the single number include a multilingual service, e-call system for calls from cars, and the '112Sordi' (112Deaf) service.

Infringements, the EU Commission decides to close seven procedures

The number of infringement procedures against Italy has dropped to 103 following the European Commission's decision on 9 February 2022 to close seven infringements. Six cases concern the non-transposition of EU directives, four relate to the environment and communications sectors.

"Trivia Quiz 2022", the eighth edition of the online competition on Europe kicks off

From 7 February to 9 May 2022, students in classes registered on the “Europa=Noi” (Europe=Us) educational platform can take part in the online competition and measure their knowledge of Europe. This year, knowledge of the Conference on the Future of Europe also enters the challenge. The winners of the competitions will be the three classes from primary, lower secondary and upper secondary schools that have answered the most questions correctly and in the shortest possible time.

“Europe is in your hands” competition extended to 8 March 2022

The deadline for registration and submission of essays, initially set for 15 February 2022, has been extended to 8 March 2022. The competition, aimed at high-school students across Italy, is promoted by the Department for European Policies and the Ministry of Education as part of the Conference on the Future of Europe initiatives.
