The reports on Services of General Economic Interest (SGEI) are submitted by the Department for European Policies to the EU Commission and comply with transparency principles, as they allow citizens to know which sectors have received State support to offset the cost of public services and the conditions under which it was received.

The report shall be produced in accordance with Article 9 of Decision 2012/21/EU dated 20 December 2011 and point 62 of Communication 2012/C 8/03 dated 24 December 2011. The reports of all Member States shall be published in the Commission website.

Administrations at all government levels are involved in preparing the report, which, by providing the information requested by the Commission, presents an overview of the governance of public services in the various sectors regulated by European legislation.
