Conference on the Future of Europe, final report delivered to EU institutions

9 May 2022

In a closing ceremony in Strasbourg, on the occasion of Europe Day, the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, President Emmanuel Macron on behalf of the Council Presidency, and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, received the Report on the final outcomes of the Conference on the Future of Europe from the Co-Chairs of the Executive Committee.

The delivery of the Report concluded an unprecedented one-year journey of debates and collaboration between citizens, institutions, civil society, associations and organisations.

The Report focuses on 49 proposals and over 320 measures for EU institutions, under the 9 themes of the Conference: climate change and environment; health; a stronger economy, social justice and jobs; the EU in the world; values and rights, rule of law, security; digital transformation; European democracy; migration; education, culture, youth and sport.

The proposals are based on the recommendations made by citizens who met in the European Citizens' Panels and National Citizens' Panels, and by all those who contributed their ideas on the multilingual digital platform.

The three EU institutions will now consider how to effectively follow up on these proposals, each within their own remit.

An event will be held in autumn 2022 to update citizens on how the institutions will live up to their commitment.
