The European Commission closed four infringement procedures

Infringement procedures against Italy now stand at 83 after the European Commission decided to close 4 cases on electronic tolling interoperability, environmental noise management and exempted entities, financial holding companies, and mixed financial holding companies, respectively.

European Citizens' Initiative: Commission registers the 100th initiative

Since ECIs were launched on 1 April 2012, the Commission has received 125 requests to launch a European Citizens' Initiative, 100 of which were eventually registered. The organisers of the new initiative - "Connecting all European capitals and citizens with a high-speed rail network" - call on the Commission to propose a legally binding act aiming at connecting all European capitals through high-speed railway lines.

PNRR, extended assessment phase by one month

Following the meetings of the Minister Raffaele Fitto with the European Commissioner Paolo Gentiloni and with the EU Commission’s PNRR task force, it was agreed to extend the assessment phase by one month to allow the Commission services to complete the technical activities of sampling and verification.

There are 83 infringement procedures against Italy after the EU Commission decided on 15 February to close three infringements concerning directives on the recognition of professional qualifications, the protection of minors in the event of arrest and airport charges.

Raffaele Fitto is the new Minister for European Affairs, Southern Italy, Cohesion Policy, and the National Recovery and Resilience Plan

The first Council of Ministers of the new Government headed by Giorgia Meloni was held; the mandates to the ministers without portfolio were assigned. The mandate for European Affairs, Southern Italy, Cohesion Policy and the National Recovery and Resilience Plan was bestowed on Raffaele Fitto.
