European Council - 26 and 27 October: statement by Minister Fitto
“The European Council confirms the role and centrality of the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, and the Italian Government in putting in place solutions capable of fostering a stabilisation process of the current geopolitical context, as well as strengthening the capacity of the European Union to respond to the main economic and social challenges", said Minister Raffaele Fitto at the end of the European Council of 26 and 27 October 2023.

Minister Fitto in Brussels: European Council dealing with migration, Tunisia and external relations
"It is necessary for the European Council to face an in-depth discussion on the issue of migration", he said. Minister Fitto then reiterated the need to pay particular attention to Tunisia. On economic issues, Minister Fitto recalled that the June European Council will be an important moment of feedback on the debate on the EU’s new long-term competitiveness strategies.
