The next European elections will take place on 8 and 9 June 2024. This was established by a decree-law approved by the Council of Ministers on January 25. The measure ("Urgent provisions for the election consultations of the year 2024 and on the revision of the registers of the resident population and the determination of the legal population") states that in order to facilitate the wider participation in the vote, throughout 2024 the votes relating to elections and referendums will take place in two days instead of one, as provided for in 2014 by Law No 147 of 27 December 2013.

In view of the fact that, by decision of the European Council, elections for the European Parliament will take place, throughout the European Union, between Thursday 6 and Sunday 9 June 2024, the decree provides that, in Italy, this consultation will take place on Saturdays from 2 pm to 10 pm and on Sundays from 7 am to 11 pm.
