Guidelines for defining the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, Parliament's green light

13 October 2020

On 13 October 2020, the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate passed resolutions of the Committees on the proposal of Guidelines for defining the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

During the debate at the Senate, the Minister for European Affairs, Vincenzo Amendola, pointed out that no European country has yet presented the recovery plan and that the Italian Parliament was the first to discuss its approach. The Government shall start informal talks with the European Commission on 15 October and the final plan shall be presented in 2021. Whilst not accepting the opposition's motion for a resolution, the Minister undertook to follow a shared parliamentary path to design a better Italy.

"Today, at the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, Italy – not a political party – has won. Thanks to the 'yes' votes of the majority and the abstention from the opposition, “Next Generation EU” received the first green light on the Guidelines. The Government is now ready to start the informal dialogue with Brussels", Minister Amendola declared in a note.
