Competitiveness Council

The Competitiveness Council works to enhance competitiveness and foster growth in the EU. To this aim, the Council discusses issues in four policies areas: Internal market, Industry, Research and Innovation and Space.

The Council meetings take place at least four times a year bringing together ministers responsible for trade, economy, industry, research and innovation, and space. Relevant European Commissioners also participate in meetings.

In the internal market, the Council acting as law-maker works to remove barriers that hinder cross-border flows of products, labour, capital and services.
